How the calculation works

Thickness, width, length, and quantity produce physical cubic volume for each entry. The combined volume is converted among cubic inches, cubic feet, and cubic meters; board feet appear only as a supporting equivalent.

Formula

Cubic inches = thickness (in) × width (in) × length (ft) × 12 × quantity
Cubic feet = cubic inches ÷ 1,728
Cubic meters = cubic inches × 0.000016387064

Worked example

Ten 2 in × 6 in × 8 ft boards contain 11,520 cubic inches, 6.67 cubic feet, or about 0.189 cubic meters.
